This project consists of the construction of a large 74,122 SF manufacturing addition to an existing facility. The structure is a pre-engineered metal building to increase the manufacturing capacity of the facility. The building and addition are considered one large unlimited area building and it is connected to an existing post and beam building on site. The existing service drive was extended to allow trucks to have access to the docks located in the addition and to exit directly to a side street.
The addition was required to connect directly to the remaining building while still maintaining the grade change between the addition and the existing building. A link was formed at the connection of the two buildings to allow a drive thru bay within the building. This bay contains a large overhead crane that loads material directly onto the trucks within the bay.
This economic addition provided the additional space EK Machine needed and the connectivity desired while addressing the challenges presented during the design.
