Boulder Jct. Brewing Company is a 3,400-square-foot brewery and taproom designed on a 0.75-acre Main Street site in Boulder Junction, Wisconsin. Located at the former Blueberry Patch—a beloved seasonal gift shop whose building dated back to 1953 and featured memorable hand-hewn timber trusses and a large stone fireplace. While the existing 2,200-square-foot structure held tremendous local character, it could not be feasibly adapted to meet current codes for year-round brewery operations, leading our team to design a fully accessible, energy-efficient building that honors the scale, materials, and spirit of the original while supporting efficient modern brewing.

The new facility integrates a state-of-the-art brewing operation, taproom, and bar, along with a covered front porch and outdoor beer garden designed for community gathering, food trucks, fire pits, and live entertainment.

The project was as much about placemaking as it was about production, and working with such thoughtful, collaborative clients made the process especially rewarding. Being welcomed into the brewery’s Founders Association is an honor we are truly excited to celebrate.

ADCI and Ryan McKichan were so integral in making this project something truly special for our community. The constant communication we had with them, their ability to listen to our thoughts and needs and then translate them into functional design, and their understanding of the environment we were attempting to create made this a truly collaborative partnership. We could not be happier with the outcome, as we now have a space that fosters human connections and somewhere to create future memories.
