This was a unique project where ADCI designed a fine dining restaurant using the deconstructed Dawn Manor, a gothic style home completed in 1855. The original home was taken apart piece by piece to be moved to a new location. The client’s goal was to keep the original design intact as much as possible while complying with today’s code requirements. The various rooms of the home became different dining rooms. These rooms display exciting historical landmarks from the life of the 1855 home at its original location near the Wisconsin River and today’s Lake Delton.
Using documentation of the building prior to the deconstruction, ADCI was able to recreate elements that were not salvageable to help bring the original splendor. All the original Potsdam sandstone pieces were cleaned and reused on the exterior of the building. Door hardware, fireplace surrounds, stained glass, and other interior elements original to the historic building were also used in renovation.
Now situated on the side of a cliff overlooking Mirror Lake, the final design brings a new type of dining experience to Wisconsin Dells. Stepping into this unique restaurant feels like stepping back in time. It gives you a unique feeling of warmth and elegance through the building’s history.
